Breaking News

The group chat becomes my garden when late sunsets and pleasant nights arrive. Summer means al fresco meals, midday tanning, and starlit (or fairy-lit) talks, all of which need décor. I love patio furniture, lanterns, and fairy lights.Since they’re on the floor, outdoor carpets are sometimes disregarded. Is feng shui dead? By bringing the outside in and the inside out, you can instantly establish harmony and flow. Imagine drinking a nice drink in summer with friends, gorgeous sky, and a magnificent rug underfoot. I’ll take a multi-sensory!

A cheap rug adds texture, colour, warmth, and character to a tiny yard, balcony, or patio. However, outdoor rugs need different priorities than interior rugs. For outside dirt, choose a rug with a shorter pile. Indoor rugs should be soft for bare feet. Remember the weather—is your rug water-resistant or waterproof? Its daily functioning and ability to stay outdoors depend on this.

To save you time, I spent the day exploring the finest and put up a collection of covetable outdoor rugs in a variety of sizes, hues, and patterns! Many lovely carpets are available, allowing you to personalise your outdoor area without making permanent changes (renters, I got you). You’ll adore one of them no matter your hue or personality!

Style an outdoor rug?

Choose the perfect outdoor rug to style it. (Or, if you’re following the Scandi trend of stacking textures for depth and elegance, layer many outdoor rugs—the more the merrier!)

Raf Michalowski, interior designer and Meble Furniture founder, advises picking an outdoor rug based on space. A round or oval rug makes a pleasant taking place in larger settings. Long runners optimise little spaces.

Raf cautions against buying a rug too small for your room. Consider a 4×6 rug for a 5×7 outdoor space.

Best year-round rugs?

I’m low-maintenance and prefer not to drag my outside rug in and out. Jute and sisal are exceptions. Simply said, certain rug materials aren’t suitable for the “rain or shine” lifestyle, and that’s good.

Since they resist dampness and fading, polypropylene and synthetic fibres make good all-weather outdoor rugs.

Raf advises styling natural fibre carpets like jute on your balcony or garden to prevent colour fading. I adore jute outdoor carpets, but synthetic ones are better for year-round durability.

HOW TO CHOOSE AN OUTDOOR RUG

Before selecting an outdoor rug, consider a few factors.

Size and place

Before buying an outdoor rug, consider its size and placement. Outdoor rugs come in all sizes, so choose one that fits your environment. Large outdoor rugs will overwhelm tiny patios. Soft-edged, circular carpets are more functional and beautiful. Finding a rug that works inside and outside is ideal as most carpets can be utilised indoors.

Quality outdoor carpets are waterproof, sturdy, and long-lasting. When purchasing a rug, consider the material. Polypropylene is used for outdoor carpets because it resists mould and mildew. Some trendy carpets are eco-friendly and composed of jute and hemp.

Care

Outdoor rug care is another valuable skill. You want to maximise its utilisation. Most outdoor carpets are machine washable, however others may be cleaned or dusted. To ensure longevity and year-round enjoyment, choose one you can simply maintain.
